Hello dear fellow divers!

I am from Germany and I will be spending my vacation in California. Diving with Santa Barbara's sea lions has really caught my fancy - but it is a bit tricky to find a diving
company that is going there.

Since I only will be in the area on the 14th/15th of June I was wondering if anybody here has a recommendation.

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

Sandra

Oh, and while you're at it, keep an eye out for "the landlord." They just love "playing" with those sea lions!

None of the Long Beach area boat have trips schedules that weekend for SBI, however the Peace has trips on the 14th and 15th to Anacapa Island where you will see a lot of sea lions.

In the meantime, here's some Santa Barbara Island sea lion video to get you in the mood.

Sea lions are stinky, disease-ridden marine mammals... but I like them anyway.

Is that why you like your old wetsuit? :)
Just kidding.

there are a few sea lions on Anacapa island, too.

Much closer trip, 4 dives (not just 3), cheaper, faster and lots of other places to get a great dive once you've played with the doggies.

I'm just sayin....

I've been to both several times, and for my money, Anacapa is the better bet. I usually go on the Spectre. Capt Ted puts us on "the sea lion" spot, and it never fails to please.

On the left it looks like a dogs head.

... I could resemble that remark!! :whack:

You are so kind! The pictures! Hm... can't wait anymore!

I have settled for the Spectre! Thank you! At first I was awfully disappointed not to be able to go to SBI - but after those pics :blinking:

It seemed such an impossible task to find the right company and the right spot - but I really came to the right place!

So, if you are on the Spectre on the 15th of June I expect we will meet! :)
