Just wanted to share that The Encore our of Pierpoint Landing in Long Beach will be going to Santa Barbara Island THIS SATURDAY!!! There are a few spots left.

Check out http://www.Reefseekers.com for more information

This is a Wonderful group of people to dive with, so check it out! I will be there, of course!

I'm sorry, I posted the wrong boat. It is the Great Escape that will be going to Santa Barbara this weekend. BOTH the Great Escape and the Encore are top notch dive boats!!!

Again, here's the link if you're interested in joining us for a great day of diving:

See you underwater!

Would have to differ with your opinion of the Great Escape. It does not always get to the advertised dive locations and it is my personal opinion that they do not always tell the truth about why they couldn't get there. This is my personal opinion based on a very distasteful experience last year. I have heard a few other dive professionals express the same problems. But then in all fairness I have also heard from divers who were quite pleased with trips on that ship. I wish mine had been.

Ditto!! Three times on the boat and not once have we gone where they said we were going.

My wife and myself are on the Saturday trip to Santa Barbara Island and I have hopes of it being a fun day. It will be her first trip since she was certified so there will be tons of firsts. As for the Great Escape I have done many trips on her and never had a bad day or a destination that wasn't fun. We'll see what the trip bring us.

Complete and total luck of the draw......I've never gotten skunked on that boat, to any island, including San Clemente. I was actually on that boat on December 2000 whatever when the big storm hit, we actaully had made it to SBI for one dive then diverted.

No idea re: the reasons for a diversion, but I ain't a captain and I leave that to the pros.

And my experience with Reefseekers is if the boat does not make it at all or has to divert to Catalina, Ken makes good with either a refund or a credit (at least that was my experience from December 2000 whatever). Something he definitely does not have to do.

However, the swell model (depending on which one you look at) doesn't look promising. I am dying to get out there to the rookery with my new camera.

And Dr. bill, I am shocked that you;ve never dived SBI. Not that you've missed the best diving in the world, but still......

Chris

PS, Jan and Bill, I just called and signed up.. What the heck, my wife is out of town and I don't have to work, might as well dive! :) Hopefully we'll make it there

To Dyno Bill and Chris M,

I look forward in meeting the both of you!

To Dr. Bill and Laurel,

I posted this trip so that it gives divers an option to join, not for someone to 'Rip' the boat. As *experienced* divers as I know the two of you are, you know that conditions always change and how unpredicitbale our weather can be. Not even the weather man can predict accurate weather. I have been on the Great Escpae many times (booked through Reefseekers) and I have never been on a bad trip. Only once was the boat diverted, but Ken called us personally to alert us and gave us the option whether to go or not.

With that being said, and seeing what the surf tonight was like in Laguna, and seeing the swell model, I would call the shop/ boat to confirm destination(s). For me, a boat trip is a boat trip, and I enjoy them all, no matter the destination.

Just my .02 cents

True, but weather wasn't the reason for diversions...

Ken & Reefseekers do things ethically and upfront. My beef isn't with them. I don't think I was ripping the boat, either. I simply stated my opinion and experience. I am sure everyone on board will have some good dives!! Have a fun trip!

Jan, Pam and myself wanted to extend our thanks for a really fun day of diving to yourself and everyone from Reefseekers and of course the crew of the Great Escape. We look forward to diving with you again.

Glad to hear this trip made it OK. Chris- I wish Ken had offered us a refund, or a future trip. He and I had an extended exchange about the problem, but no such solution was offered. However, I know that he and Reef Seekers are a good outfit and am only critical about my singular experience.

Jan- It was nice of you to extend the offer to others, however people should be aware that there is a possibility such a trip might not arrive at the designated location... and not for weather. Had weather been the problem (as was stated) in my situation, I would have fully understood.
