I don't know the name of the 2nd wreck but, it is broken up quite a bit. Found the wheel and there was a boot next to it. Also a coffee cup. Interesting.
John Breden - interesting old newspaper articles about the wreck and the divers who found her here (thanks again Tiny Bubbles!): Maritime History of the Great Lakes: Shipwrecks: BREDEN, JOHN

I'm looking forward to the Price. Hopefully we can put the line back on the Mary Alice B too...

Rick

BTW, (not trying to rub it in to you Stash-you should come out next weekend)

today was fun! 2nd time with Bruno's and the guys are fun and all of the passengers have been fun too. There are 3 new Open Water divers as of today ! They were super pumped and have to throw some kudos out to Rick....they looked great in the water.

The day started with tieing off onto the MaryAliceB. 4 of us got in the water...my buddy (Scott) and I started to decend and at 30ft .... came to the end of the line. Had to skip her and go to the Regina. Vis was better than last week. Water wasn't too chilly ... high 50's at 70 ft. very slight current. Little tougher up top.

Came up to some 2-4 footers and some rouge 7's + and it was a bumpy but fun ride back. Captain Paul entertained me with his stories of fishing the mighty seas around Alaska. Very cool. :) :):)

Anyhoo, can't wait til next weekend! Hoping to do the Charles S Price! Sweeeet wreck!

Bruno's? is that the name of the Charter too ? Our guy was Gary Venet of Rec-Tec Charters... he was the guy we had scheduled when he cancelled the end of last month as well...

So... you guys went out eh?

Huh... so is Your capt. unsafe or is my capt. Overcautious?

I have a quarry date scheduled next Sat. and then plans after, I'm afraid my wreck plans are gonna have to wait till next season... thats ok... I'm in no hurry.

I've been on 3 different charters over the last 3 years and the 2 Captains I've seen from Brunos dive shop are more than safe. When it actually did get bad out, we scrubbed the last dive. Put it this way, we had 3 OW cert divers who had an excellent time.

We got two captains jason and Paul. THeyre brothers. J drives boats for st clair marine salvage and westcott mail boats to the freighters and pAul fishes for salmon in alaska 6 weeks out the year. SO, how can i say this? they know what their doing!

.. and tyhey got a good boat - i designed it myself!!! -- The Great Lakes Diver - USCG Certified Wreck Diving Charter Boat

take care

I was at Piort Sanilac this weekend, and even though the conditions were not perfect (2-4 feet) , I've been out many times with various charters in much worse conditions without incident.

I understand it's the Captains responsibility to make the call, but I feel in some cases, the decision is based more on commercial considerations, (how full is the boat) rather than safety.

I've dove with Bruno's a number of times, and find the crew experienced and competent, and have no issues with using them, In fact I plan to again next weekend.

Ultimately it's the responsibility of the individual diver to make their own judgment.
