San Pedro Island, TX

[newbie in TN]

HELP!! I have just been informed that my family (me, brother, mom and dad) are going to San Pedro, Island for christmas this year. Seems they bought a time-share there! Can anyone give me some good dive sites, operators?? I am fairly new to diving (only 15 or so logged) and dad has about 25-30 logged. THANKS!!

South Padre island??? I don't remember any "San Pedro" where lots of resorts/timeshares would be.

I appreciate the warning. I voted for Hawaii, but lost!! I have a 3 mm two piece with a 5 mm core warmer...will that suffice??

I guess you're probably used to colder waters diving in your neck of the woods. So you may be OK.

South Padre Island is really nice. Its much more popular with the college Spring Break crowd. Its very much a hidden jewel of the Texas coast.

Try www.divesouthpadre.com They run various reef, oil rig and scuba park dives. The water shouldn't be too bad in December, probably in the low 70s, so a 5mm should work.
