Maybe there was kelp there one day... I have never seen any kelp down at the Coronados. I have only been down there 5 or so times. Anyone know any spots that have kelp? We saw tons of these blue urchins which love to eat kelp.

Great picture! My understanding is that you go to the Coronados primarily to dive with sea lions and seals, and check out rocky reefs. I had a fabulous dive there when a sea lion played with us throughout the entire dive. He dive bombed us, came up and blew bubbles in our faces and swam all around us. It was an awesome experience!

Actually, I descided to edit out my kelp comment. I found out that all of the shops use the same site to dive at, and that there is no kelp in the Coronados whatsoever. Either way, Dive Bliss/ OEX also dive locally, highly recommended.
