My family is taking a trip this weekend to San Diego to visit friends, go to Sea World and the zoo, and I was hoping to get some diving in on one day. We'll be diving offf my friend's friend's boat, so I don't know the specific area that we will be diving. What are the general conditions (vis., water temp., surf, marine life ..) down there?
Thanks for any info,
JAW

You might want to take a look at the monthly dive report thread at the top of this forum. There are reports from San Diego in there and since they are dated it would be a nice source of information about what conditions are like.

If you find the old monthly dive report threads you could probably even put a model for the year together. Not that I'd expect anyone to to that! ;)

I was off the coast last weekend. Water was a warm 56 at 80ft. Swell varies so stating what it WAS is pointless. Visibility was a "foggy" 20ft and the life was abundant....as always. Off shore at the Coronado's they are saying 30ft of vis and reports from wreck alley are saying the same.

The ocean is a fickle mistress, never believe that todays mood will match tomorrows.

Vis this morning was a clear 35 easy above 50ft. Still a bit murky at depth but plenty good enough to spot the life-o-plenty.
