have not dove San Diego, wife and I would like to do wrecks and other good sites
I have a California Dive Boat comparision chart I downloaded,
we dive and have both dry and wet suits
certif. - deep, wreck, nitrox, nav, boat, rescue, dry suit, etc., etc.
hate "cattle boat operations" and short air fills
recommendations for dive boats with good dive operators?

If you are looking to do the wrecks I like the Lois Ann. You can rent STEEL cylinders with nitrox! For longer trips like to San Clemente Island, I LOVE the Horizon! The crew is outstanding, the boat is comfy, and they fill nitrox! Both boats are out of San Diego.

There is also the dive outfit gottadive.com, I can't really speak to them as I have only dove with them once and that was a while back.

Hope this helps!

www.gottadive.com is an ok operation but definetly a cattle boat. The Ann is as well but is a nicer operation. Can't guarantee the fills, I always check mine before I leave the dock. They do have steel tanks and nitrox available and the crew is helpful and friendly. Dive Bliss and The Hydro Diver are small 6 pack boats and run pretty regular.

Hope you have a nice couple dives.

Terry

We just took the Hydrodiver last weekend. Captain Bill is a great captain...very attentive to his group. The boat holds only 6 passengers, but there is no air fills on the boat. He'll supply 2 AL80s, but if you want nitrox or steel tanks, you'll have to supply your own. He also supplies snacks and sandwiches during surface intervals. He'll do 1,2 or 3 dives depending on your wants/needs. If you use his AL80s, then you only have to bring 1 additional tank for the 3rd dive.

It was a great experience. I'd definitely go out with him again.

Dive Bliss www.divebliss.com is good. They do wreck alley trips as well as the Coronados and occaisonally do day trips as far afield as San Clemente and Catalina (at least according to their website). I've dove Catalina with another (Orange County) op before imho it's a must dive for Southern California. Although their catamaran is large and well appointed, they only take six divers, definately not a cattle boat. Dive Happy :D

Is Dive Bliss back to being operational? Any one used them lately?

Lois Ann is nice but can be crowded. I've dove the DnD II, I can't remember who runs it...stay away. The boat looked and behaved like something the castaways from Giligans Island slapped together.

I can't be positive, but I think the DnD is the boat the had the panic attack diver that I saw last weekend....

lets see in one day of diving on the boat, they lost their depth finder, all lights including recall on night dive, steering... your not allowed to bring on your dive bag, everything must fit in a clothes hamper, yeah I beleive someone could have panicked.
