As of May 26, 2006, San Carlos, Lovers Point and Stillwater Cove Beaches are under an advisory. Bacteria levels have exceeded health guidelines. The public is advised not to have ocean water contact at this time. All other Monterey County beaches are open without restriction.

There hasnt been runoff or a spill...must be poop?

I was at Del Monte and then the Breakwater last night (5/31/06) thinking the levels would have flushed out since it's been 5 days but man, the water at both spots REALLY STUNK like rotting something. Viz was decent at about 10ft both spots but man, THAT SMELL!
 
john pennekamp park has been under advisory for about a month, and the developers will tell you it has nothing to do with cesspools, 18 mile stretch redevelopment or increased development, OK i will blame the iguanas, anyone wanna buy a bridge?

Chuck's right, you just have to click on Lover's Beach to see the update. The main page still has it as closed.
