Looking for any feedback on diving in San Andres and places to stay etc... Any comments would be appreciated.

I don't think I've heard anything bad about diving there. In fact, some quite positive reports. You might do a search on San Andres as there have been a few threads on the subject in the past. If you end up going there, please give us all a dive report!

And welcome to SB.

We were there six years ago,so I imagine some things have changed. We stayed at the Royal Decameron Aquarium. There were LOTS of Colombians there (favorite vacation spot) and we were stuck with a bad room at first. We moved to an ocean view room, I think in unit 12 on the second floor. The room was nice and clean. Food was OK and there was a 24 hour bar on the dock (we were asleep by nine though.) There were bugs but not really bad.

We dove with Divers Dream - I don't think they exist anymore. The boats were open, about 20 feet long and we sat on wood cross seats. Getting the gear on was difficult, so I usually put mine on in the water. Not the greatest dive boat!

The diving was fun, we saw lots of fish (we were told that it was an exceptional year for numbers of fish - I guess we lucked out.) The vis was always good, but the night dives on Pyramid Reef was not very good - not much life and surge! Saw a Nurse Shark, school of Barracuda, turtles and all the usual reef fish.

We rented a golf cart and drove around the island on the main roads - that was a fun experience. The islanders are friendly, like to party and love LOUD music.

Like I said we were there years ago so I'm sure things are different. Don't know if this will be of any use - but saw no-one else was replying.
