Hey guys,

My GF and a couple of her girlfriends are headed out to San Andres and a neighboring smaller island quite soon.

They are snorkelers not divers (for now heh heh).

Anyway, just looking for advice as to where or with whom they should get in touch with or if there are any spots of particular interest accessible from shore?

Many thanks!

In San Andres the only place to snorkel from the shore is West View. There is a fee to get in and they have a slide and diving board. It is used more as a swimming hole than a snorkeling place but you can easily swim north along the coast and get better underwater sights. Other than a few other places that are not easily accessed with out a local, that is it. Most of the dive boats do their second dive at the north reef about 15 to 30 which is a great snorkeling reef. Just ask any of the dive boat for a snorkel trip.

In Old Providence, the best reefs are all on the west side of the island and only a couple that are 15-30' and okay for snorkeling. On the eastern side of Old Providence is a bay, it is protected by the barrier reef, in the bay there are unlimited patch reefs to explore. You will have to rent a kayak to explore, most of the area is the protected McBean Lagoon Park and the dive boats are not aloud.

Hope this helps let me know if you need any more info.

Ciao
Tad
