I'm a Fish!
Greetings from Bali. I am relatively new to diving and after a weekend where I had to wait for the master to give me information about my dives, fins that didn't fit properly and a mask that pinched my face as I got below 15 m; I am starting to think about buying bits to own and cherish, the fins masks and Dive Computers. Rather than purchase willy-nilly I thought I would access the brains trust, that would be you girls & guys. I would like to thank you all in advance for your help, hindrance and guidance.

I too am new here but not new to diving. My advice: You should own and "cherish" all of your diving gear. Having said that I would recommend that at the very least you own your own mask and fins. Having these components fit well is key to "learning" to dive.

When buying a mask beware of anyone who would sell you a mask without a discission reguarding the fit. Faces are different, masks are different. They make one that fits you well.

For fins: I was introduced to open heel and boots. They are heavier than fitted fins.

Hi Anomac,

Welcome aboard from Bali :)

Are you still here in Bali? Not really sure as you wrote "Selamat Tinggal"

If you are & decide to purchase your own dive equipment, try Dive Master in Sanur or Dive Sport in Kuta. Dive Master actually provides dive equipment for most dive centers in Indonesia but for some items you might need to order first.

Dive safely!!

@Diggerland. I too like rear entry fins. Some days my feet are larger than others. Don't know why. I use my nice Ripcurl 1mm booties. I surf as well. and then I am as snug as a bug. What brand of Fin do you use?

@Tapas. Yep still here in Bali. Thanks for the tip on teh shops. I do not get to Sanur often but next time I do I will check it out.
