Thanks everyone you have made me feel better in my decision to go there. I have another question though I wear prescription glasses will they be safe in the truck at the dive sites do you think?? or drive without them while on dive excursions??
For $12 put them in one of these and take them with you.

You can also store some cash or a credit card - you won't ever need to show your C-Card once you get your BMP tag, so leave your wallet in your room. Cash will work better at most of the local places.

All of the above described items are waterproof....

The cash, credit card, glasses.... except the box being sold on e-bay . They are great crush resistant glass cases, but in no way are they waterproof.

Stick your stuff in a baggie and in your BC Pocket. If the perscription glasses are NOT sunglasses, aint nobody stealing them.

Oh ok i can still use it to protect them and wrap them in a baggie to keep them dry

I think it is waterproof. I have the smaller version of this case, it has the same locking mechanism. There's a little rubber seal inside the case and compression from the latch seals it dry. Mine has a lanyard so I wear it around my neck, it's been to 110' with no leaks. I've used the same one for about 4 years.

From the eBay ad:
This is a great little waterproof sport case

Thanks everyone for your input made the trip reservations today we leave feb 26 for a week and i can't wait to go

Not trying to start trouble, but who cares if the box is "waterproof"? The goal is to keep things secured to you. You might not want to soak you glasses in saltwater for days, but if the box leaked and you got some water on your glasses, so what?

Another suggestion would be to bring an old pair of glasses with you. Then if they get "lost" you aren't heartbroken. For those people that are functionally blind without your glasses, I hope that you are bringing a spare pair on every trip already.

Just the idle thoughts of a bored, dry person.

I always take a spare pair with me, and i agree with you.

I got the case today and it is water tight. Only 16 bucks with shipping and it is like one i seen in the dive shop last night for 34 bucks. Thanks again for telling me about it.

Any other suggetions for us as we start to prepare for our trip the plane tickets arrived today and we leave feb 26. Will anyone else be there during that week?
Thanks again to everyone who gave me advice on going. I almost cancelled the trip. Now i cant wait to board the plane.

Happy holidays and thanks again

I do not have first hand exeprience with this I just read it somewhere online, so take it for what its worth.

In addition to breaking into your rental car and stealing your property - which can be easily remedied by leaving the car unlocked with nothing of value in it and a few bucks on the seat to appease the kids - they also steal the tires from your rental car and sell them back to the rental car agency, who re-installs them on the car after they charge your credit card for new tires.
