And here I thought the thread was about SAFETY STOPS. Not decos...

Silly me.

So did I, that's why I didnt bother answering. Safety stops aren't long enough for me to get bored.

Okay, so what do you guys (and gals) do to entertain yourselves during safety stops/deco stops? One diver I met would (he said) take cheap paperbacks; my LDS sells waterproof cards; my brother and I blow bubble rings....

Safety Stop of 3-5 minutes.... check my gear over as need be,,not much time to kill.
Deco Stop.... always something to think about or do in prep for the next waypoint and exit.

Well, it's "minimum deco". Recreational dives. I don't do technical diving.

Isnt it all "recreational?" ;)

I sure approach them that way, but dang if every once in a while a dive will just sneak in there that just seems like 'work'---lol. :D

That's what me & my regular buddy do.
I tried to kill him once, took out my knife & started chasing him around the line. I really only wanted to poke a hole in his drysuit:) (fortunately I didn't get his suit as it was a loaner while his was being repaired)

I bet you won't have to wonder why your buddy brings a spear gun to the next dive!:D

I was going to say i look at my wife, look at my computer, look at my wife, look at my computer, but she says i just look at my computer. How does she know what I'm looking at? She used to be my dive buddy. :shakehead: :shakehead: :shakehead:

Things I've done on deco stops:

-belch through my reg and scare my buddy- I swear I was just offgassing!
-stare at my buddies and wish I was was diving with supermodels instead
-try to remember the dive, but I get deco amnesia just hanging out
-point my light at the reel so that I don't "get lost" in the low vis
-stretch out to stay warm and keep things circulating
-look at my reflection on the bubbles rising below me
-practice a few back kicks and make sure I can touch my valves- kinda like mini drills
-wonder when we'll get above the thermocline and how much warmer the water will be
-use my p-valve
-stare at the little critters swimming in the water and hope that I don't accidentally swallow one of them
