SMB, plastic mirror, shears, knife, and a whistle. The SMB is clipped off to one of the D-rings at my waist, as is the whistle. The knife sheath is wire-tied, handle down, to my inflator hose. The mirror and shears go in my cummerbund pouch. It sounds like a lot of gear, but most of the items are small and don't take up much room.

Safety sausage, whistle, signaling mirror, and safety shears. I also carry a small knife with me that I use only for digging around. I don't really consider this a safety tool, since I feel that my shears have me covered in this area.

Someone asked about how do you travel with a knife and sheers........it's easy. As long as the stuff is in your checked baggage, you won't encounter any problems.

Someone listed a link to a very good article about safety equipment. I don't remember the address, but it basically divided the devices into categories and offerred suggestions for each.

Audible, visual day from a boat/land, visual day from air, visual night.

Audible: whistles, dive alerts etc..

Visual day from a boat/land: mirror, safety sausages.

Visual day from air (search plane/helicopter): rescue streamer, mirror.

Visual night: strobe, flashlight.

I have the Princeton strobe I take on night dives.

I like to be armed to hilt out here in NE waters. D.A.N. Surface Signal Kit, Z Knife, Standard Knife, Shears

Does anyone carry an emergency strobe? I was thinking about either the Aqua strobe:

I where a VIP emergency strobe on my BC shoulder strap. It has 3 modes, constant on, standard strobe and SOS strobe.

May want to add a wistle that is not powered by compressed air.......what if you are out of air? I would also add something with radar reflective material on it, my safety sausage has some radar reflective tape at the tip.
