Hello All,

Newbie starting out snorkeling in Southern California, will probably try more serious free diving once I'm more comfy underwater. I have been wearing my contacts when I snorkel, but I recently found the Free diver mask from snorkel-mart.com (sorry, can't post links yet) I have never been a fan of wearing contacts, it will be great if these works out.

Does anyone have info on the quality of gear from snorkel-mart? Seems like they have their own branded stuff, and the price is right.

Thanks,

Spend an extra $20 on an Aqua-Sphera if you're serious about more freediving in your future. I freedive (heck, scuba dive and skydive too) in my contacts.

Just as a first impression, the Snorkel-Mart looks like a retailer that sells knock-off copies of other brands; these are made in China. When you go to DEMA there's lots of these manufacturers there selling stuff at rediculous low prices. As soon as you pick them up you can feel why - the quality is okay but just not the same. <shrugs> You get what you pay for.

With the way you have indicated your future lies, I'd say a trip to the Freedive Shop in Hermosa Beach is in order.

All the best, James
