 We are considering going to Coco View Dec 23-30. Does anyone know what the diving/weather/water conditions are at that time? We stopped in Roatan on a cruise ship and spent the day with CCV about 2 weeks ago and can't wait to go back!

Go here http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/mb/ccv for the information or answers...most of the people on cocochat have been there a least one month of the year...Dec is considered the rainy season....but you are in the topics and it rains almost every day..if you don't want to go to their board here is what they say about Roatans weather in their faq http://www.cocoviewresort.com/faq.html#WEATHER

it will be fun since you will there over Christmas always a festive time there....you will love diving Roatan and CCV.....

Look at http://www.docksidedivecenter.com/WeeklyLog120106.html and you will see a weekly log of conditions as well as critter sightings. You can page forward through the logbook and get statistical data on the December period.

It's still better weather in the Caribbean than anywhere to the North.

We can also go March 3-9 or sometime next August. Do you think either of those times would be better? We are just really anxious to go back, but I hate to go in Dec if the weather might be nicer some other time. (and, it's considerably more expensive in Dec) Wish I could afford to go all three dates..... Oh, and we live in South FL, so I can't complain about our weather here in Dec! Thanks for the info.

March would be a good time to go...it is whale shark season so you might see a whale shark.....of course Aug is hurricane season....Hello Dean;) water temps will be around 83 in Aug....winter is around 81 but of course it varies....my computer temp guage in the front yard in May one year registered 91 degrees but I was in only 4 ft of water:D

I checked their dive logs and last Dec seemed really nice - not much rain at all the whole month, pretty warm, and mostly 1-2 ft seas. March and Aug (so far) seem to actually be a bit if-ier (?) What's the viz like in Dec? Does that depend on the rain? Also, the only rooms left are the oceanfront or the beach houses - are these just as nice as the cabanas? Gotta make a decision soon, 'cause they're selling out fast....

yes viz will depend on how much rain they get...I have seen all kinds of viz in Roatan....avg approx 80ft....yes CCV books up very quickly....the ocean front are nice that is the original "lodge" but of course they have been updated and remodeled several times since 1983.....the cabanas are very nice rustic over the water rooms as well as the bungalows....I have stayed in the ocean front rooms and the cabanas......never stayed in the beach houses but people on cocochat love them....

Have you been over to that chat board?? here is a link to the beach houses on Playa Miguel

Hubby and I booked for Dec 15-22!! Soooo excited!! Thanks for all the info guys

He is actually scheduled to be there Dec. 8th through the 15th, not the 15th through the 22nd. That is unless they changed the schedule. When Terry posted it on CoCoChat it said the 8th through the 15th.

Doesn't matter, I'm sure you will have a blast anyway!

Later, Hawk.
