I posted my thoughts about the orientation dive at the CCV site - CoCo Chat . As far as the squid I easily found them between the wreck and the front yard, usually right around the area where the pvc pipe diamonds are for training. I do both drop offs real shallow and from CCV wall at about 20ft as you turn the corner towards the chain if you are calm they will come find you!

SWEET!

Thanks guys!

The only squid I've ever seen there were on the day I arrived on my first trip two years ago. We were snorkeling out towards the PA and a bunch of them swam by.

I'm planning on shooting a lot of macro this trip and jawfish would be perfect practice.

This thread here on SB was the inspiration for that CoCoChat thread....

Here's the more direct link to the specific thread: Orientation Dive, 25 years later- ideas please! - CoCo Chat

Anyone who has been through the process, please feel free to join in. It's a 25th year unofficial review and commentary on the Orientation Dive. If you're just curious, :search: on CoCoChat for other threads that describe the first Dive or a CCV visit.

Squid report from CCV: The squid have been at or near the buoy that marks the return to the resort all week. We have seen them on 3 of 4 dives all week. They are usually high in the water column, if you don't look up it's easy to miss them.
