i've never stayed at AKR, but i did go there once to do the dolphin encounter
and snorkel (those dolphins are awesome)
it looked like a nice place, well-maintained, the boats looked good

My now wife and I stayed there a while back... definitely get a cabana on the little island. Nice place, all around.
Tip: For both the dolphin dive and snorkel, be as insane as you can be!! (obviously, not in a threatening way) We have great videos of 1) me diving and doing headstand twirls and two dolphins mimicking me, and 2) mesnorkeling and *launching* myself off the bottom and breaching, and a dolphin zipping over to breach too!
