Just returned from AKR. WOW! We were worried going down based on the news/State Dept reports. Not sure I wanted to take the kids into trouble. I read a bunch of reports on Scubaboard and decided to go. The island life seemed completely unaffected by the political situation. Kids went to Dolphin/Scuba Camp and loved it - getting certified and learning how to train dolphins! My wife and I went diving every day. Staff at AKR were wonderful. We had rooms with no A/C, but plenty of sea breeze. Very few no-see-ums. Food was beyond compare. Captain Noel of the Nicolas took care of us, he knew what I needed before I did. Sea turtles on every dive. Timmy at the Frangipani kept us afloat in Salva Vidas and virgin Pina Coladas while he mixed his tunes.
No need to worry, just go!

Glad to here Timmy is still there ... I have a Timmy Mix CD that he made for me when we were at AKR a few years ago. It's a mix of songs that he sang to and played as he bartended. Thanks for the report!
