Hi Folks--Ron is no longer participating in ScubaBoard, and I will step in from time to time to edit the list. In order to get placed on it, just add a post with as much information as you want on it. I will step in at some point after that, add you to the list, and then delete your post.

When we made this forum, we had to find 10 people who were willing to say that they are from the region and would participate. Things have grown since then!

Little confused what is this for?
When I joined ScubaBoard, there was no regional forum for the Rocky Mountain region, nowhere that we in the area could discuss things. In 2005, I asked about it, and I was told I had to get a certain amount of commitments to make such a forum. I gathered the requisite amount, and this forum was created. It was originally called the Rocky Mountain Oysters, but management changed that in later years. You can see the whole process play out in this thread.

One member of the group, Ron Frank, was a moderator, and this gave him the power to edit posts. He created a post which gave the user names of the people who post here, followed by their real names and where they were from. This was, of course, purely voluntary. People would add posts to the thread, and then Ron would go in and edit the list and thread to add them. He kept it up for a while, and then he left ScubaBoard. At about the same time, I was made a moderator, and I took over for a while.

Eventually it fell into disuse, and since I am no longer a moderator, I couldn't do anything about it if I wanted to. As far as I know, no moderators live or dive in the Rocky Mountains.

I have no idea when this was last edited. I just scanned the list and can't think of many names at all that are still active. I am really the only one who is truly active.

The forum has changed mightily. In the early days, two areas of discussion dominated. The biggest topic was who was diving at the Blue Hole in NM, and when would they be there. the other big topic was the Denver area dive sites, Aurora Reservoir and Chatfield. We had several gatherings of ScubaBoard divers in those sites back then, and attendance was good. Nothing like that is going on in the forum now.

What a shame! Sounds like I should have stayed with diving after I got my cert in 08.

There are still a few active members from that list. I am only occasionally on SB, but some others like RedDiver970 are fairly active. I’m busy actually diving or teaching diving most of the time these days.
We have dive events at Aurora Res, Carter Lake and Horsetooth, as well as an evening event in Fort Collins every other Wed night year round.. you are certainly welcome to join us!

Is the FT event the one at the SSI shop?

No. We have an event called Scuba Challenge at EPIC on Wed evenings. It is sponsored by our Shop, Colorado Scuba Diving Academy, which is a a PADI shop and we are affiliated with IANTD for Tech and CCR.
It is $22 and we provide any/all needed equipment for the events. We usually go to a nearby restaurant afterwords to socialize and talk diving
