I was putting together my dive kit and noticed that it is very uncomfortable trying to breath through the rite source octo because the corrugated hose is two short and requires my head to be angled to breath through it. The current lenght is 16"

Is it possible to get a longer corrugated inflation hose 20 - 22"? If yes were could I order one?

Thanks

- Pawel

yes, dive rite has/makes several hose lengths -- contact dive rite express (or now dive gear express) and you can order them .

Hi Pawel,

Actually, I don't believe you can switch out hoses on the Ritesource. Hmmmm...I need to check with one more person before I tell you for sure. It is a bit of a bear to breathe due to the length of the hose...that's part of the nature of that streamlining and obviously (and hopefully) you'll only need to for a few short minutes as you ascend to the surface in an emergency situation.

I'll double check tomorrow in the office and re-post a confirmed response.

Thanks,
Kathleen

Hi,

I have confirmed that indeed the Ritesource comes as a complete unit and the corrugated hose cannot be switched out due to the rapid exhaust component.

In addition, the specialized, high-flow inflator only comes in that standard length, so a longer corrugated hose would need to be coupled with a longer inflator hose, which isn't available.

Sorry I couldnt' help you...perhaps there is a way to set up your regulator to give some extra length to the inflator. I'd be happy to take a look at any pics or help further if I can.

Best,
Kathleen

I have the Rite Source Octo. Dive Rite Express use to have different length corrugated hoses with and without pull dumps. I tried to search for the page with all the parts. Contact DR Express to see if they still have the different corrugated hoses. I keep getting Dive Gear Express when searching for DR Express - Name Change or different company?

I bought a high flow fitting ~$50 from DR Express, so I can use any hose with the Rite Source. I had intended on switching to a color coordinate Miflex hose. Rite Source Backup Regulator by Dive Rite - Dive Gear Express

Also try changing the orientation at the bladder fitting. Unscrew the plastic fitting at the elbow and rotate it one notch towards your head.

There are different options if desiring to go with a longer hose. Hopefully DR Express still carries them. If you do not use the pull dump, it is easy to get a corrugated hose of the desired length and using the adapter and the correct length inflator hose. If you have to make a new corrugated hose with pull dump, any good dive shop can do this. You only need the $50 high flow adapter.

Corrugated hoses are corrugated hoses and the same thing with the high-flow hose. My LDS replaced both of mine with longer than factory ones and they work just fine.

BTW, I disabled the pull dump feature on mine. Too much of a pain in the ass, it dumps air when I pull the corrugated hose toward me to use the inline octo or just for repositioning.
