The problem I see with this is that there is no way to attach this to your buddy if you need to don this to another diver. I would stick with a tiger mount or sling it along your left side d-rings.

Hmmm. Not sure how a Tiger mount would allow you to attach it to your buddy. Though I'd think that if your buddy has hands, then he has two built in mounts anyway. Besides, what does a 19Cu weigh in the water? Next to nothing?

Help me understand what am I missing about your comment, as I'm in the buying stage for a mount. I'm not a sling mount proponent....

Why would you tie up your buddy's hands in an emergancy situation? It is easy to drop a tank and then be back in an OOA situation (trust me I have seen it before), that is one of the reasons why tech divers put "lost gas" tables on their slates.. As for using the tiger mount, we usually have a clip on it so can be secured the OOA diver.

Ok. That seems logical in all mount cases - some sort of clip+bungie around the tank valve for your buddy. Just seems like for $20 I can buy a lot of these for the price of a Tiger or similar AL machined mount+clamps. Great Lakes may not make them anymore as the site seems dormant.

Yes the AL mounts are more expensive, but plastic breaks.. Anything backmounted it going to take a lot of abuse. If you are looking for a cost effective solution, just sling it.. As a solo dive instructor I have looked at all kinds of solutions for redundancy, and honestly if someone showed up to class with this I would strongly suggest something else. I think most most people would suggest that a sling it is the preferable method. I know the OP only has 20 dives listed on his profile, and for a beginner it does seem like it would be in the way, but after a few dives you don't even notice it anymore.. Also I would suggest a 30 or 40 cf bottle over a 19.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, but I'm not really asking for a debate on back vs sling ponies. Just someone who's used said product and can comment on its efficacy and durability.

Thanks for your input none the less, I'll keep it in mind for later when I have more experience. :)
