The last week in Septemper my husband and I are going diving in Maui. I have no idea what type of suit we need. Currently we do all our diving in a 7mm in So Cal (though I am seriously considering a dry suit). We are only doing about 2-3 days of divings, 2-3 tanks a day. We'll be doing a mixture of dives from deep (upto 120ft) to more shallow dives.

Any suggestions of types of suits we need or at least what type of temperatures we can expect at depth/surface?

You dive in SoCal? and you think you need a drysuit for Maui?
Dive naked.

You'll probably be warm enough in a 3mm suit.

I used a 3mm (rental) on Oahu and was fine. Went to Maui and got a 5mm farmer john and it was too much.

Hehe.. I meant a dry suit for So Cal. 7 mm was fine when I never went past 45 feet but now that I've starting diving some depths the cold is a bit overwhelming.

My Wife and I went to Maui the first week in June we both wore 3mm Henderson Gold Cores. I was fine but she was a bit chilly on the second and third dives of the day. If you tend to get cold easy go for a 5mm. Who are you diving with? We went out with Ed Robbinson...they were great but Scuba Shack was the first one out every morning by at least a half hour. We did 16 dives. If your planning that many dives defiately go to 5mm if you tend to get cold.

I thought you meant a drysuit for Maui, my mistake.
I've only snorkelled in Hawaii and the water is pretty warm.
3 mil otta do it.
Have fun

I used to keep my Henderson 3 mil on Maui. I would get cold since we usually dive 2 tanks and have triple digit dive times for each tank. I now keep a custom JMJ 5 mil jumpsuit on Maui and never get cold! Its not too hot either. BTW, I am super wimp when it comes to temp......
