Which history? I'm not aware of any
reliable reports of ICD from technical divers doing bounce profiles shallower than 100m. Citation needed.
Which tech divers wound up seriously injured or dead? Can you give us their names?
Recently? Maybe you've been out of the loop for a while but we've been switching directly from trimix bottom gas to nitrox 50 at 70 ft / 21 m for over 20 years. No one is getting whacked doing this. Deeper
deco mixes like trimix 35/25 or even 21/35 only become useful if you incur a significant deco obligation with long mandatory stops deeper than 70 ft / 21 m.
(And with a CCR the whole discussion becomes largely moot.)
The whole "
zeroth order rule" thing appears to be based on a misinterpretation of bubble models. NAUI went all in on RGBM, which seemed like a good idea at one point but empirically doesn't seem to work very well.
