You are only talking to those that have not been seriously affected because those that have been are dead or not able to travel. Survivors bias to the extreme and why anecdotal evidence is useless in assessing risk. More than half a million Americans will not be available for you to talk to - they are dead.
But the OP specifically asked about those who recovered. Those who died are not included in the wording of the question. So survivors bias is not a problem here.

I think the real issue, given the original question, is how likely is it that someone who recovered and feels okay has hidden damage that may cause a problem during a dive.
