Sorry about the delayed response. I have not been getting reply updates. Anyway, yes DM is next. I have the DM Knowledge book and will begin reading through the 9 chapters this week and do the 9 knowledge reviews. I need to get some money to pay for the course lol. These past 3 weeks have sucked me dry. But yes, my plan is to get my DM and AI and hopefully get a job somewhere :) Thanks everyone.

Why don't you go and do some diving first. As a DM you will be responsible for other divers in possible emergency situations, and you need to have your skills down. No need for the extra pressure so soon in your diving career. Go have some fun....... I'm doing mine next year........

I am going to do some diving, been going everyweekend and will continue to go. Im trying to go to a lake cleanup in 2 weeks or so. I'm also going to be diving with my instructor for fun alot. I will get experience :) When I get my DM I am not immediately going to try to start instructing/helping either, I'm just getting it now as it is a convienient time, then I will use the DM when I am ready :) Thanks.

Hey Mike, Congratulations on the Rescue.... man, I did not realize you were trying to do so much in such a short period of time.

Please follow Shaka's advice and get lots of experience before you do the DM. The course is long and then you have to do the assists with an instructor. Think about this, you will not be good at assisting if you do not have the experience that only comes with diviing, diving, diving in all sorts of different circumstances. If you only go out and dive with your instructor for fun, how are you going to recognize the signals that spell problems from new divers in the water?

Yes, I understand you are doing this now as it is convenient time wise.... just make sure you do what is needed to become a good divemaster in the future. Even experienced divers will take six months to a year to become really good and proficient DM's.

This was not meant to start as being preachy, so congratulations again on all you have accomplished and on any future endeavors.

Maria
