My local Pacific Wilderness in San Pedro did an awesome job for my Open Water instruction "instructed my Bob Nimmo". Top notch instruction and great shore and island check out dives. I know Pacific Wilderness has a OC store, you might want to check them out.

Yea, go to the store in Orange, its right off Tustin Ave and the 55 Freeway.

As a general rule, I don't think it's about the store - it's more about the instructor. One of our friends is an instructor with Sports Chalet, and did an awesome job for our class. He was very thorough, and we got a lot out of the course. He's in LA though, so probably too far for you.

But yeah, ask people for recommendations on instructors, not just stores.

Absolutely, that's what I'm looking for. A store's a store, that doesn't help. It's the instructor that really knows their stuff and goes through it smartly, that I'm looking for.

I live in Huntington Beach. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I would ask my dive shop but, of course, they would offer their instructors only.
