If you had to make a judgement on what was the most vital part of the PADI Rescue Dive course; what would that part be?

self-awareness and early self-rescue as well as observing and pre-empting other divers' slides into accident territory?

Yeah!! What Andy said. Always better to prevent an incident than to have to effect a rescue.

But........... lots of time people are arrogant and refuse to listen to advices. So it becomes like: Oh boy, here we go, stand by on the port side! We're gonna have 3 accidents in the next 30 minuets!

The rescue course will also give you some ideas as to how to handle those types of situations. It's well worth it. Take it.

I agree about awareness being the best benefit. The skills learned, i.e. dealing with a panicked diver at the surface, etc., are nice to have as well.

Well it's not required as part of the course but I think the DAN 02 Provider speciatly is pretty important. I agree with the self rescue part as well.

As others have said it is definitely worth it to take the class and the self-awareness& rescue benefit. There were situations taught in my class, that I felt should have been taught in OW class.. such as dealing with a panicked diver imo.

self rescue
self rescue
self rescue.......

either be part of the solution, or get out of the way because you are about to become part of the problem.

You cant help if you become a victim yourself.

Good question!
