I just don't log dives
A thought occurred to me this morning. I have a question that I'd like to ask. It's a bit of a taboo subject and based on similar questions I'm sure it would be immediately met with "oh we can't tell you that because someone else might read the answer and be an idiot"

But I really want to ask about this subject and I don't want to hear people say "you're going to die" or otherwise be afraid to answer.

So the thought was a "Black Arts" (call it whatever) forum where advanced scuba topics could be asked and answered without judgment. The thought was this group would be opt-in private so that only those with a good dose of open mind / personal responsibility would engage.

Any thoughts?

FWIW, my question is a technical diving question but I don't know that this forum suggestion is tech specific.

I don't think he meets the requirements to be deemed worthy of access to that forum - unless they've changed the rules (again)

The "What is Tek to Tek (T2T)?" clearly indicates it's not a place for me to ask my question...

Ask me Ill give you an opinion and I am a Black arts certified mental case worthy of an open mind, I Second a black arts private forum, no close minded people should apply, if you cant consider the ramifications of 200ft dive on air without panic just ignore the whole section.

I agree, too many users like to throw stones at things they don't understand. A Section that's more open to discussing some of the 'fringe areas' would be interesting.

Haven't checked. I wasn't impressed when they dropped the entry requirement to Advanced Nitrox, probably can get in with DSD now.

I'll play as well. The only down side is that someone will asked a question, we give a honest answer, they try it, die and we get to go to court.

Anyone can request that a Group be created. Go to Community (below the Gallery tab), Groups, Create Groups. Perhaps we could word this something like:

"This Group has been started in an effort to provide a forum for controversial topics, which may not be acceptable by all certification Agencies (Deep-Air, for example). The Group is by invitation, so as to discourage 'stone throwing' on ideas. It's an area where open-minded thinking is encouraged and where options may be fully-explored" (or something to this affect).

Under Group Type, we could list "by invitation" and check "Users must join to view the content." chrpai, as this was your idea, what do you think? Want to run with it??? :)

Tony, I don't think that the purpose is to instruct anyone. We can say how we dive, what we think about a particular topic, but as long as we're not encouraging someone to do something that's unsafe, I can't see a problem.
