I don't know when this might have changed or if I'm just mis-remembering but I thought private messages I reply to kept a copy of the reply in the sent folder. The last 10 or 15 I've sent, though, don't seem to be. Furthermore several PMs I've initiated also are not being saved. Have I missed something in my user settings somewhere?
