I bought a couple of vindicators for two of my HP80's with Thermo valves to try out this season.

My question is can these knobs be replaced with air in the tank or do the tanks need to be dry?

Thanks, i didn't find that in my youtube searches. Now I suppose my issue is that special tool needed to get the valve off.

everything on the valve except the neck o-ring and the valve seat can be done with gas in the tank. Stem changes, stem packing, copper crush gaskets, valve knobs, bonnets, etc.

several valve tool options there, though you can always take a relatively thin flathead and notch it out. The inflator service tool is the one I would recommend you keep though, fits in wet notes
Equipment Tools

India Security confiscated my Scuba-Pro multi-tool and every other tool I had in my save a dive kit. "No tools on the plane." I probably had one on that tool.

You can probably do it with a regular flathead, just be careful. If it's really corroded, then you will find the correct tool handy, but I've also bent cheap special tools with a really corroded nut.

Thanks all for your knowledge on this topic. I bought a tool and changed two of my HP80's over to vindicators and have three more on order for my other tanks. Still trying to figure out the model of valve on my AL30 Pony. It is smaller than my "real" tanks and you need to know the valve to buy the right knob.

The pony has a split nut just like the Thermo's on my other tanks, but as I said, the size is different and it isn't marked well.

The AL30 pony valve is stamped 15-21 on the front, 230 Bar on the back and near the "Pro valve" DIN opening on the front has a sticker that reads 3000 PSI service pressure.

Anyone have a clue as to what model this one may be?
