Just want to check if this is really good idea to put hose protectors, if they make any use.

Where could I find good ones and how to install them?

I dont use em myself. They can hide a bad place in a hose and its just easier to make sure all my connections are tight without having to slide em up and down.Personal preferece assesorys for sure.

I use them. They came on my regulator and HP hose. On a crowded dive boat, folks are all the time sliding into things, or sitting on things, including somebody's second stage. It may afford a bit of failure protection.

The vinyl kind are typical two dollar dive shop items. They slide on easier if you soak them in hot water first. After diving, I slide these down a bit to rinse off the hose fittings, then cover the fittings with silicone "scuba goo" when all is dry.

I never had a problem when not using these, but... they appear to be cheap insurance.

I did not find any good one... checked on LP website and saw only very bad reviews.
Can you please let me know what kind of protectors do you have?

I use them because they provide strain relief to the hose in the transition to the hard fitting. They can hide some corrosion on the fitting, but I have never seen a fitting fail…but I have seen plenty of hoses with a kink at the joint and I they tend to fail by leaking into the outer hose jacket.

To avoid the corrosion I have switched all my hose protectors to the Scubapro with the internal ribs for easy flushing. I started using the old tube style over 30 years ago and they did cause some corrosion, but it wasn’t a big deal…we will see how much better this new ones work in, lets say another 30 years.

I've had them before and they look cool, but I'm not sure that they actually "protect" anything since the hose itself is more resilient than the protectors are. They can be useful in identifying the type of gas though (yellow for octo, green for nitrox or O2, etc.) Trident makes some.

The best way to put them on is to pull back the rubber hose ends and to put them on inside out on one end with electrical tape, then fold it over (right side out) and glide it across the hose. Put the other end down with the same tape and then you'll have the ends covered with the rubber hose ends so the install looks clean.

I recently removed the last one of mine, since they started to fray.

I generally use them as I have had and have seen hoses kink over and then eventually leak as a result of continually being tugged on. The hose protectors do help prevent kinking. N

I believe the OP is talking about the plastic or rubber protectors that cover the transition from the metal fitting to the rubber hose. I use these because they can help prevent the hose kinking at the transition. The colored fabric full length protectors that dive shops love to sell to inexperienced divers are pretty much worthless.

Where could I buy scubapro house protectors and/or LP/HP hoses with the protectors in US or online which can ship to US?
