When I purchased my regs, they came with the primary and secondary on the same side with the console on the other. SSI recommends that the secondary be on the opposite side as the primary. While I'm sure that this is a comfort thing...what do most divers do? My personal preference and what makes more sense is the above setup.

all breathing regs on the right and non breathing on the left...make for a less confusing set up

but to each his own.

I have my second stages going around my right side, with my SPG, BC inflator, and drysuit inflator coming around my left. I also dive a pony or stage, which I sling on my left side, shoulder to hip.

In an air-sharing situation, my left arm is for buoyancy adjustments (drysuit and BC), leaving my right hand for donating a reg and (if necessary) controlling the OOA diver. Having the alternate come from my left side would leave me all crossed up.

When I was getting certified; my instructor was using his octo (it was a standart octo) on the left which was more comfortable for students' breathing (;students were able to use it right handed just like their own primary).
But I've got an egress as an octo ,which has no rightside up, and I'm using it on right side and my left side is for my bouyancy control...
That's just about how you feel better..

Thanks Guys! 'What I figured but, I also new there HAD to be a reason for the other set up. As a matter of fact, I rented my regs from the LDS for my trip to Coz and they had it set up backasswards, too. When the guys on the boat attempted to set up my equipment, there was a lot of confusion.
