Not to add any fuel to the fire, but I just had my daughter's regulator serviced at the LDS I use in Florida.

Here are the pieces:

Mares R2 Axis purchased from LP
Mares octopus from a private eBAY seller
Pro-something gage console also from eBAY.

Not one word was said about the provenance of the equipment. The service price was the same as for my Conshelf SE3 that was purchased at the LDS. I do not spend over $500 in an average year there. The LDS is an authorized Mares dealer.

I have read many of the posts concerning equipment purchases, and I do not understand all the grief. I have never had a problem.

Just one man's observation.
