It's the date you bought it. That's when the warranty starts. Not the date you register it.

SO how does scubapro know the date I bought it, seeing that I could put any date down on the registration form. Right? So its from the date of purchase according to what we put on the registration??

It is on your sales receipt which you may be required to show to the service provider to prove that you are the original owner and that you made the purchase from an authorized dealer. You may also be required to provide the sales receipt from the last service to prove that you are meeting the annual service requirement to maintain your warrenty and continue your participation in the parts for life program.

Didn't you get a receipt when you purchased it? That's the proof that you carried it away to start using it. The registration can be filled out and mailed in any reasonable time after the purchase. The warranty starts from the moment it leaves the LDS and enters the real world.

Sea ya!

I have emailed them and have not recieved a response....and they dont have a number....but if you have one for them if I could have it then that would make a world of difference.

It's been a couple years since I sold SP at retail (OK 6 years...), however it was always a 30 day grace period one year from purchase date, so if you got it July 1st, 2006 you would have until Aug 1st, 2007 to get it serviced and retain the free parts for life program. I have heard but not verified personally (nor likely to) that SP dealers can also get a reg back in the program if the date is missed, but have no idea of the details or what it costs.

Thalassamania:
I got two identical regulators by a manufacturer in 1999, so I started an experiment. I equipped them both with cold water kits and used them alternately, one I completely rebuilt every year, the other has had no more attention that being washed off after every dive. Guess what?

Purely my expierence:

1) First stages, so long as they are taken care of, last a very long time before needing rebuilt.

2) Second stages, especially those used quite often, do need more periodic rebuilds, perhaps not annually but definitely more frequently than 1st stages for best performance.

Best guess as to why comes from the enviroments the 'active' parts work in. First stages tend to be sealed and pristine environemnts. 2nd stages get water and other particulates (in the water) feed through them as well as air. Good thing the parts for a 2nd stage are pretty cheap......

huh? i dont get what you are saying...im talking about servicing it..not whether I should or not, but I am, and when does it start?

For heavens sake, if that detail is so important to you why are you asking an internet chat room? Contact your manufacturer or at least the local dealer that will be putting the paperwork through.
