I just got my 1st stage, and both 2nd stages serviced. I thought it was going to be fairly cheap since i didnt have to pay for labor. when i got it back 2 weeks later, they gave me a bag of what was replaced, and it was mostly o-rings plus some other stuff that i have never seen before. And they charged me what i think was a lot, after only having my regulator for a year. Im just wondering how much every body has payed (labor plus parts).

Depend your brand name and part, In Hong Kong we got standard rate for part and labour charge.

I just gor back from having servicing on my Scuba Pro 1st, 2nd stages and dive computer. Since the last tune up was over a year ago, I paid $190USD for the servicing and replacement parts. I spoke to my LDS service person and he noted that this was an increase of 20% since last year. My husband's was the same. Talk about sticker shock.

100 to 400 % markup on parts seems to be the norm for most "customers". I get Scubapro service kits at what I believe is 100 % markup and I pay between $8 and $18 per kits. Apeks parts seem to be much more expensive. Those o-rings may have come into this world for a penny each, but they probably go into your reg at a buck or more. Just be happy they don't squeeze too hard.:D

My LDS charges $15 USD per stage plus parts. Some brands have warranty parts, other brands run about $15 per stage for parts. This is in the $90 ballpark for your typical out of warranty reg- first stage and 2 second stages.

I dug out some old receipts:
1 OW reg - $45 (would have been $77 out of warranty)
1 OW reg - $130 (but this includes a $42 part, maybe HP seat?)

Wow, so what shop are you using here in Alaska so I know to avoid them?

That's ridiculous.

I pay about $100 for a regulator service. Cheap insurance, if you think about it.

Speaking of service cost - this thread should be like a price guide - name state (and major urban location) plus cost for servicing (brand specific if necessarry)...

Zeagle - Philly - $45 per stage (steeeeeeep I think)

Those of you paying for parts for your ScubaPro may be getting screwed. If you bought your reg NEW then you would have recieved a ScubaPro card with the reg. If you have your reg serviced YEARLY and you present the card to the AUTHORIZED ScubaPro dealer then you get free parts.
Now if you bought the reg online you would not get the card and you get to pay for the parts.
Like I said you must present the card and the reg would have to been serviced in the last 12-13 months.
