In Switzerland it seems that every autonomous diver needs two separate first stages.
Autonomous as in "solo" diver? Is this by government regulations/law?

It was definitely easier to buy a 30k car hahaA good reg today will be a good reg 10 years from now. Virtually certain that someone will make parts for popular models if AL ceases to.
If you get a good deal I would take it. If you can't service it at some point in the future, buy something else when the time comes.
It's not as if you're buying a $30k car.
As a fellow overthinker, sometimes you have to settle for good and enjoy what you have.It was definitely easier to buy a 30k car haha
It just sais 2 separate first and second stages. They can be on the same bottle or two different onesOut of curiosity, rather than two first stages on the primary tank (which seems bizarre!) do the regulations allow for a pony bottle with separate regulators? I would much rather sling a 40cf (5.7l) bottle for redundancy.
Then I would buy a couple of Mk17s and a trio of G260s, or maybe a C370 on the pony.
You should absolutely go for a pony bottle on a sling. This is a much more useful and practical setup. A 40cf/5.7l bottle is also neutrally buoyant so you don't notice it when diving. I always dive with one.It just sais 2 separate first and second stages. They can be on the same bottle or two different ones
I owned old Jetstreams (before the bronze logo), with the divider plate in the mouthpiece tube. I tried an Xstream on land, but did not dive it. Are the Xstreams and Mk3 Jetstreams smoother than the old Jetstreams, or are they the same when perfectly tuned? It's all about the tuning -- sadly, far too often, piss-poor tuning -- and I've made more Poseidon coverts in the last ten years or so, especially when they've had a chance to use my setup, which is serviced in house; and I also use the XStream first stages (4751, etc) with Jetstream, Cyklon seconds, and a full face mask.
The sensitivity of the XStream or Jetstream second stage (the guts of which are almost identical) can be tuned, anywhere from 28-40 mm w.c., just by screwing the valve tube towards or away from the diaphragm, depending upon the desired setting, with a hemostat.
At the low end, it is more prone to free-flow but very easy breathing; and at the upper end, sucking through a bamboo straw at 10 meters -- simple choice . . .
