Aqualung Legend LX - both valve and vane (Venture) adjustment knobs. Where should they be positioned in long term storage and why? What positions should they be in when soaking and why?

I don't think soaking matters, for long term anywhere in the middle is fine. On either end they're pushing or pulling on o-rings which is no good. In the middle it should be fine

The cracking pressure knob, while soaking I would keep them fully in to mid range, just to mimamize the chance of bumping it open with another reg. Stored, I would back them out all the way, no need to keep the springs and seats under any more pressure than is necessary.

The venturi vane does not matter at all, where ever you had it last is fine.

Recently got a reg from USA that belonged to a soaker.
Inside the first was wet, there was algae manifesting on the internal surface of the conical sintered filter, plating was in poor condition, brass was attacked and abraded, the spg was seized.
Externally it was perfect.
I'm glad it got through customs.

The only thing that will have any effect during storage other than environment is clean and dry with purge depressed.

Anyway I honed the internals, decalcified the spg and everything is as beautiful as it can be.

Got plenty of exceptional regs from USA too.

Makes sense.

So the cracking pressure knob - it increases cracking pressure when turned clockwise and decreases cracking pressure when it's turned counter-clockwise. Which extreme relieves the tension on the spring?

Counter clockwise, i.e. all the way out.

While relieving pressure off the spring is a good thing, the idea is really to take pressure off the soft seat to prevent engraving.
