If you have to crimp that hose in an emergency, please do so. It will take a lot to crimp it and will ruin the hose's integrity. So please, if you bend/kink it to that point, replace it before you dive that setup again. Please.

Thank You for the advice. I definitely will not try a practice run. Do not want to ruin my set-up. Hey, I also live in SW Florida/Cape Coral FL If you are ever planning a trip to the Keys soon , Please let me know, My dive partner and i need all of the practice and good advice we can get. Before, we start diving from his boat by ourselves (just the 2 of us) He has a 46' boat, but we both need much more practice and to develop our skill-sets to the point that we can be safe.If you have to crimp that hose in an emergency, please do so. I'm usually planning trips 'out' of the Keys since I live here. If you don't mind a rebreather then let's go.If you are ever planning a trip to the Keys soon , Please let me know,
This is a "what if" discussion. But that is a good point: if it's just a trickle, then do nothing but end your dive. They never get 'better' without intervention. How bad is the freeflow?

I'm not sure I agree with that. The most common cause of freeflow I've seen is debris in the 2nd stage seat. Sometimes a hard purge fixes it. I guess that is intervention. This is a "what if" discussion. But that is a good point: if it's just a trickle, then do nothing but end your dive. They never get 'better' without intervention.
You're doing something wrong then. The combination of the dip tube and sintered bronze filter in the first stage inlet should keep any debris out. They would have to be missing or the amount of crap in your tank excessive to allow debris into your reg.I'm not sure I agree with that.
