Yes the original Pilot is servo assisted, while the converted Pilots using the Air 1 poppet are a center balanced design. The Pilot is a work of machined art with very precisely made parts and a fair degree of complexity. The Air 1 is a much simpler design, but one that gives great performance without the Pilot's quirks.
