I may be in the dark as to the qualifications of your LDS but ours they have all the plaques on the wall and i know the guy that does it is awesome at it. And if your LDS is authorized you shouldn't have to worry about the warranty because if they screw up it is their fault.
I would agree that most people do not service their regs yearly, however this only exxagerates my point that every time you service it (bi-annually) you have to re familarize yourself with the reg.
I think that this biggest issue here is qualifications and familiarization. You can't service regs properly without both...
