Is it DIR approved to have your Din regulator (protective) cap on a piece of string attached to your first stage when diving. I always see divers with yoke regulators diving with it hanging off a piece of string. I dont know if DIR divers consider this an entanglement hazard. I know if I dont attach it to my first stage that eventually I will lose it.

Usually the DIR option is "if you do not need it underwater don't take it underwater".
I store my caps in the regulator bag the moment I take them off.
(and not taking them underwater keeps them dry as well)

Yep. But that's still no reason to take it with you under water.

Buy an extra one now so you have it when you need it. I hang mine on the clothes hook in the car when they're not on the reg.
