time for a new reg. from the LDS in my area i have narrow it down to 2 models
2 of this year testers choice

aqualung titan lx environmentally sealed with ACD, seems like a nice feature to me
atomic z2x not environmentally sealed

they both are within 100 of each other with the z2x not environmentally sealed

should i go without hesitation with the atomic since the servicing is every 2 years so save some $ on the long run?

this is for above 50F diving.

any thought?

Being in Canada and above 50 suggests a vacation diver?
If so.....
When away from home Aqualung service will be easier to find if something goes sour.

Pete

Both are good choices. I personally would go with the atomic.

...both are fine regs, especially in that price bracket......I'm guessing with 100-200 dives you already have an 'old' reg...meaning you'll soon have 2 regs (one as backup) which means finding a service tech isn't as critical, as if a reg fails in the field (trip) you can switch to your back up reg and fix things upon your return. Admittedly though, Aqualung will be more easily servicable, especially in more remote locations, than will an Atomic. You can get the Z2X enviro-sealed if you want...and the dry-sealed Aqualung 1st-stage 'system' is a more modern/elegant sealing system than the somewhat 'old-fashioned' Christolube-filled Atomic 1st-stage. If you see what other divers use, it's likely you'll see the Aqualung Titan LX to be one of the most common units out there...although I see a respectable number of Atomics out there too, although possibly because travel divers, on average, represent a higher socio-economic/income level, so the extra cost of an Atomic really isn't an issue for those divers. The Aqualung has that ACD, which is nice....but I believe the Atomic will have better overall performance, especially in deep/high-stress situations. It's a close call and either reg will be a sound choice.

BTW, among my 'fleet' of regs are an Aqualung Titan LX....Atomic M1...Atomic T2 (not to mention my Apex XTX 200's (2)....and a bunch of Poseidon Jetsreams and assorted Mares regs)

Both are great regs.......

Titan mught be a better fit for local cold water diving........

How much local diving are you planning to do?

Hope this help......M

thank you all, got a better deal on the atomic, hope the wife will like her xmas gift!

As a Scubapro regulator owner I would strongly suggest either a higher end Aqua-lung or Atomic model which is designed to go two years before service...:)

hi,
i am going to buy new reg setup MK17 S555 and wanted to know if i should get in Din300 or INT which i suppose means yoke, and this is in australia or if i should just go DIN and just add an adapter on it
thanks for your time guys

An adapter will work, but it adds "length" to the first stage and can result in hitting you head......

I have DIN regs for my local dives with my own tanks...and yoke regs for travel to warm sunny islands.......

If I could pick only one it would be yoke, but that is because the Caribbean rental tanks are all yoke......

Red Sea and Europe you can get DIN rentals , not sure about Australia.....

Hope this helps....:)
