In case you might need to rent, which I don't think will be necessary, take a few extra mouthpieces and have them put it on the second stages if you can't stand cooties.

Ok... A rather ironic phone call just came through from said dive shop, unfortunately I can't rearrange my schedule to meet up with them at the pool. (as I appreciate and welcome the opportunity)

I just want to set the record straight... (I have bought equipment from them in the past... there are several people there who have always been consistently nice and friendly to me... and going forward in the future I would still like to continue my business with them... as I was not intending to bash them.)

I think in this particular case the tech/individual didn't have a lot of experience with this regulator (as it is not one they have in house or service regularly.) I don't take back what I said about said individuals temperament, as my experience teaches me to treat ever customer who walks through the door with the same respect/appreciation no matter if they buy bubble gum or a Mercedes. (I hope it was just bad timing and maybe he misinterpreted me since my voice is rather horse at the moment)

However, the new general consensus is that it is a tuning issue that might be easily remedied. I am going to try and get some pool time (at a place I know) and see what happens.

Actually I am a little confused here. I own Deep Blue and I am proud to say that we work hard to exceed everyone’s expectations. I have talked with the staff member that you discussed and he expressed that he suggested that it may need an overhaul but not really looking into the regulator he was not sure. You said you wanted to take it back to your old dive shop at Pirates Cove. My understanding was that you would bring it back if you did not receive the answer you were looking for.

At no time did we charge you for inspecting and testing the IP of a regulator that you purchased elsewhere (If purchased from us parts and service would be free for life under the You Dive Guarantee). We were just trying to look out for you and make sure that you are not diving with someone else’s problems. And no, we do not care how much or how little you have in your wallet we just want safe and satisfied divers.

As for the employees temperament I agree with you and like your expression: every customer who walks through the door deserves the same respect/appreciation no matter if they buy bubble gum or a Mercedes. I assure you and the Scuba Board community that this will be addressed.
I am glad to hear that he did a follow up call with you and I hope you take advantage of his offer of letting you use one of our pools free of charge to test your regulator before you go into the open water with it.

I truly hope and believe that you realize we are just trying to look out for you and trying to make your diving safer and more enjoyable. Please feel free to contact me directly should you have any questions or feel if there is something else that we could offer or do to exceed your expectations. My direct email address is rich@dpblue.com.

Thank you and I hope we get another opportunity to earn your business

Rich,

It is much warmer down here in TX...consider moving to Houston, I realize Milwaukee is a beer town, but we also have good beer at St. Arnolds.

Rich...

Like I said 90% pleased with your shop:14:... this is the only instance where I have had an issue where the information given at the initial onset didn't match up to my logic.

And I am by no means an expert or anywhere near that caliber diver... so please don't take me for a dive snob (clearly I am not). I was simply looking for direction.

As I told Rich in a PM... I consider his shop to be consistently good... I really do think that this particular case was just a lack of experience with this particular regulator on both my behalf and the person I spoke to.

I am still working on finding a place that meets my schedule for pool time... (Pool would be ideal... I might just have to suit up grab a buddy and go to a lake if I can't find a pool and just see if it works or not.

First let me say thank you for the complements and the invitations. COUV I may have to check out that beer next time I am down there.

We try all that we can to exceed everyone’s expectations and maybe that is why we have been fortunate enough to be rated as one of the Top Ten Dive Centers in the US two years in a row. I truly believe this was an isolated incident and I have talked with the staff member and he expressed a hardy apology for any miscommunication and hopes that you will join us this summer for a dive. I know you are heading south but we have some great sites right here in your backyard.

If the pool situation does not work out let me know and I will be happy to offer you a FREE rental regulator for your trip. This way you have a backup in case there are any unforeseen problems with your existing regulator.

Again please feel free if you would like to take me up on the offer or if there is anything else I or any member of the Deep Blue Dive Team can do to assist.

Dive On!

Well there you go.

So nice to see a LDS operator that "gets it"
