Well, it kind of depends on the tank valves you get or already have. If you're buying new tanks and valves, get DIN since it offers a more secure connection. If you intend to do a lot travelling and renting tanks, then make sure to buy the DIN to yoke convertor for the reg.

I like DIN.

ok im sort of lost on this one in the past ive always rented regs and they always have the same type of valve ..???? also do the hoses come with the regs?

About 99% of the rentals you'll find are yoke style. (Both Tanks and regs.) You'll know you have a DIN adaptor when you see the nifty little screw threads.

If you buy DIN, you can always get an adaptor that will let you put the reg on either kind of valve.

If you are renting tanks (and especially if you are doing any dive travel), and plan on buying an Apeks reg, you'll be better served to buy a yoke connection. When/if you buy tanks with DIN valves, the DIN connection can always be installed later for about $50. I bought both -- I have a yoke first stage and also have the DIN connector.

I only own one tank at the moment (OMS, which can handle both yoke and DIN) -- at some point at least a year from now I'll buy another tank. For now, since I always have to rent another tank for 2 tank trips, yoke makes MUCH more sense.

My $0.02.

Ok i have it figured out now ..i'm going to go wiht the yoke type since i always rent my tanks and do no plan on buying anytime soon.......one more question then i'll go buy some regs heh at divers inn you can get the tx50...or the tx50 and ds4 im guessing the ds4 is the first stage and if so which is the better 1st stage the ds4 or the tx 50 ....thanks again for all the replys

Hi Scubasteve,

I got my Regs in DIN. I also purchased a DIN/Yoke converter. This way I can dive HP Steels at home (I can rent these until I can afford to buy my own)and I can use aluminum 80's when I'm on vacation.

It works well for me,Tavi
