After debating between islands, we ended up flying to Maui on April 3rd where my wife completed her PADI OW certification dives with Doug Corbin ~Shaka Doug~ on April 4th and 6th. Four great training dives, and the Scuba Bus was awesome! We highly recommend Shaka Doug for instruction and/or shore diving. His webpage is www.shakadivers.com. BTW, we stayed at the Maui Coast Hotel, which we found to be pretty good for a moderately priced hotel. The room (6th floor - above any noise) was clean, spacious, and well-appointed. For a dive trip where you don't need an ocean front property, we can recommend this hotel. The staff members were uniformly courteous and efficient.
