Hi everyone, I'm hoping there are some expats who might be able to help me out. I will be making several trips to Riyadh on business over the coming months and am hell bent on diving the Red Sea. I've heard I can make a quick trip to Jeddah, but I've also heard the diving is better north of Jeddah.

Can anyone offer some advice on where to go? I don't want to make the trip too difficult. Also, is it OK to rent gear in KSA? What are the conditions like?

If anyone is looking for a dive buddy, let me know!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, there are various options but two of the easiest would either be 1) stay at the Sheraton Beach Resort where there is a dive shop located there or 2) Book a boat trip with Desert Sea Divers. They (DSD) have trips every Thursday and Friday and all you would need to do is call them up and reserve a place. I guess the only problem is a buddy, but the DM is normally happy to lead a dive.

We have also dived at Rabigh (to the North) off the beach which is quite good and you can also dive from Yanbu (even further North) but we have not done that yet.

Rental kit is generally ok.

Let me know if you need further information.

Second the boat trips which are probably the best bet for just flying in to dive. 300 SAR and it's all day and lunch and 3 tanks included. Desert sea divers is a good shop with decent rental gear also. Let me know when you come this way and I might be able to get back up this way

Cheers
Michael

Great! Thanks for the advice. I'll have to check the schedule to see when my next trip will be, but it looks like it might be the end of this month. Michael I'll send you a PM when I know what my schedule is.
