From people who have done a liveaboard in the Red Sea and a Liveaboard in the Andaman Sea, could you offer comparison?

The published research says the Andaman Sea has a higher fish diversity than the Red Sea.
So, it depends on what YOU like in a dive site....

Red sea has sharks. They are not as many as Cocos island or Palau but you will see sharks. Red sea has wrecks. They are not as good as Truuk but you have wrecks. Red sea has coral reef. Not as much as Fiji but they are there. Red sea does not top in any particular category but it gives you everything in one trip. That is the reason why it is the best liveaboard experience.

Done both and prefer Red Sea - better visibility, more sharks, wrecks, wall diving
Andaman is also very nice but I personally prefer the Red Sea

I agree with what LFMarm has stated. My experience as well.

Also, if flights matter, your looking around 14 hours of flying to get to HRG, while looking 22 or so to get to Phuket.
