I'm interested in your take on the Novas. I found I could back kick and helicopter fine; I just had problems with the frog kick. The little "tabs" on the side of the fins only seem to cause a problem when you want to move the fins sideways and they are horizontal. But you felt you couldn't helicopter?
Those little bent edges on the sides of the novas seemed to want to direct the fin into a weird position when moving it sideways and when I do a helicopter turn there is some sideways moving. I kind of flip the fins gainst the water alternately and there is a return stroke that requires the fin to be flat to return without getting traction and that was the stroke that screwed me up. It was like all the progress I made got reversed and the fins got out of position and when I tried to correct that my trim and everything got all screwed up. Maybe I'm just used to the regular jets for that kind of control. They are pretty damn hard to beat for sculling and pinpoint control. They just suck for long surface swims.
