A bunch of us are headed down the end of January for a wedding and we're looking for a good shop to dive with. We'll have a group of 6 to 8 divers and would like to make a few 2 tank boat trips. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We really enjoyed Deep Blue Divers.

They take eight max.

With six I am sure you can work out a deal with them to charter the boat for two dives a day.

Call Nick and see what he can work out for you.

I have been using Peter Milburn the last 5 or 6 trips to the island this past year and enjoy his operation. He has a boat that can handle up to 8 divers and will take you wherever you want to go weather permiting.Great guy with over 40 years diving experience on island.

Thanks for all the info. I'll have to check out Neptune. I'd given some thought to Deep Blue Divers but only because it's the same name as my preferred shop in Cozumel. I don't think they're affilliated. Lol

Has anyone gone with Sunset Divers at Sunset House? That's where we'll be staying so the convenience of going with the onsite shop would make things easier.

My (admittedly limited) experience with Sunset House left me with a memory of crowded cattle boats and impatient divemasters. One wanted Mrs DS to giant stride into the water while the previous diver was still just a few feet under the entry area. Mrs DS wasn't comfortable doing so and the boat crew guy got a bit of attitude.

This was several years ago, so keep it in perspective. Many folks speak well of them, I just haven't felt like going back to them since there are so many smaller, more relaxed dive outfits with whom to dive.

Thanks for the info! I much prefer going out with smaller more personal operators
myself instead of the large cattle boats. Are there any issues with having another
dive shop pick us up at the Sunset peer?
Last March we had an issue with Wyndham in Cozumel not wanting other operators
picking up their guests that didn't want to dive with the onsite shop.

Hmmm. I can see how having a competitor pull up to their dock might rub them the wrong way!

Casey usually leaves from either the public beach along SMB or Governor's Harbor, depending upon which boat they're taking out, but could probably arrange to get you picked up in their van. We typically have a Jeep so we just drive up to where they tie their dive boat. We usually see their van pulling up with the other divers in the group who they picked up.
